A life without compromise
Despite what others think, I think living an alcohol-free life is not about compromise.
It’s not about sacrifice and it’s not about giving something up (the gains can far outweigh the losses).
Often it’s an active choice. Sometimes it’s for health reasons. Sometimes a choice that’s made for us.
But choosing to live an alcohol-free life is a good choice. It’s a brilliant choice for those who are in the know.
Those who are Alcohol-Free As Fuck

So why are we hiding?
It feels like we’re blending in, pretending we’re still “just the same” as we were (when we’re not).
Why are we feeling the need to make excuses for not drinking – for not joining in with everyone else?
And where are other people like us? Why is it hard to find each other? How do we connect, meet up, share our stories and celebrate?
So I started this blog in the hope of reaching other people like me and to start building a community – of people who are AFAF*

What's this all about?
In Dec 2021, a series of events gave me the shock I needed to make the decision to stop drinking.
May 2022 was the last time I drank any alcohol.
Sept 2024 was the first time I felt confident enough (just about) to share my ‘story’.
I have now shared this story publicly twice (maybe more times by the time you’re reading this), which is hard to do, but well worth it.
The number of people who’ve spoken to me, messaged me, liked posts about my story etc tells me that many of us have – or have had – a pretty bad relationship with alcohol.
It’s also inspired me to start writing the AFAF* blog and potentially build a community. I hope to catch up with you soon.
